What is a D20?
A D20 is a twenty-sided die. It has 20 faces numbered 1 to 20, and on a fair die each one is equally likely, so any single face comes up 5% of the time. You will usually see it used for attack rolls, skill checks, saving throws and ability checks.

D20 odds
Every face on a D20 has the same 5% chance. Rolling the die more than once does not change that. Each roll is independent, so a run of low numbers tells you nothing about what comes next.
Across many rolls the average settles near 10.5, which is the number to use when you are comparing this die against another.
