Midnight
Also known as 1-4-24. Six dice, kept one throw at a time. You must end holding a 1 and a 4 to qualify, and the other four dice are your score, so the perfect night is 24. Highest total over 3 rounds wins.
One link, live dice, up to six players.
How to play Midnight (1-4-24)
- Throw all 6 dice.
- Set aside at least one die, then throw the rest again, until all six are set aside.
- To score at all you must keep a 1 and a 4. Those two are the qualifiers and count nothing. Miss either one and the turn busts for zero.
- Your score is the sum of the other four dice, so once you have your 1 and 4, you want sixes. The most you can score is 24.
- Highest total over 3 rounds wins.
The squeeze
Every throw you must keep something, and the 1 and the 4 you need score nothing, so the danger is banking high dice too early and never landing your qualifiers. Lock the 1 and 4 in as soon as you see them, then hold out for sixes. The computer does exactly that, keeping a single 1 and 4, then sixes, and only taking fives once it has qualified, so a good night of sixes will beat it.
