How these odds are worked out
These are exact figures, not estimates. The calculator works through every combination the dice can produce and adds up how often each total appears, so 2d6 is computed from all 36 outcomes rather than sampled from a few thousand simulated rolls.
That is why the same expression always gives the same answer here. Where an expression cannot be worked out exactly, such as exploding dice with no upper bound, the calculator says so rather than showing a number it cannot stand behind.
